There is still time to register a corporate team for this Friday’s annual charity golf day for Autism Guernsey.
This Friday 15th September will see the annual Autism Guernsey charity golf event return for its fifth year. The team event will be held at La Grande Mare Hotel, Golf and Country Club and will culminate in a dinner and prize giving.
30 teams of four players are invited to take part in the 18-hole stableford competition, maximum handicaps of 24 and 30 will be in place for men and women respectively. The best two net scores per team will determine each team’s place in the league table; prizes will be awarded to the winning team and two runner ups. There is also a prize for whoever manages to score an elusive hole-in-one.
Nick Bachmann, Fundraising Director for Autism Guernsey, says of the event: ‘This is one of our staple fundraising events of the year, and it is always great to see the golfing community coming out to support the charity. As always we are welcoming back some familiar faces as well as some new ones for what promises to be a day of fun healthy competition, in aid of a great cause.’
The post tournament dinner will start at 7:30 pm, giving players the chance to talk through the day’s events and discuss techniques. Compere for the evening is ITV reporter, John Fernandez, whose family has experienced the challenges that can come with an autism diagnosis and the importance of Autism Guernsey’s support.
This event is a key date in Autism Guernsey’s calendar, providing much-needed funds for the charity. These funds enable them to provide invaluable support to those on the autistic spectrum in the island. As a registered Guernsey charity, they receive no statutory financial backing meaning they rely solely on the support of the island’s community.
There is still time to enter a team, just email office@autismguernsey.org.gg for an entry form.
