Autism Guernsey was delighted to have won the Initiative Award at the recent Community Awards held at St. James. This award was for the Autism Passport which was a collaboration of the Guernsey Police and Autism Guernsey. The Autism Passport is voluntary and allows the Guernsey Police to hold information on their database regarding an autistic individual’s likes and dislikes i.e. sensory issues such as aversion to bright lights, excessive noise, not being touched etc. This will enable the Police to adapt their way of conducting an interview etc. should the individual be a witness, victim or have committed a crime.
The Passport application form can be obtained from either the Police Station or Autism Guernsey’s offices.
